If anybody is still out there reading Redub, this is to let you know that I am planning to migrate the current Redub site from Drupal to Wordpress. Furthermore, I will be using this as a public hub for Redub related activities, postings, and thoughts. I have started a company called Redub LLC which will be dedicated to display layer architecture, front-end development, and publication design in the age of digital reproduction.
Check back in a few days!

Ha! Thought I forgot about Redub? Nope. Actually, Iwrin, your marketplace listing on facebook (the web/design intern position that is…i have yet to require the services of an international superphone) led me to your facebook profile, which led me to back to Redub with news of recent findings.
Though few may actually happen upon this post, I found a website/service that goes by Aviary (a.viary.com) and I just got setup with a beta account of their browser-based imaging & etc applications—theyre working out bugs and such but the two apps I used (an image editor not unlike a slick and shaved-down flash photoshop and a math-based pattern generator) were pretty impressive for browser based anything.
"Aviary is a suite of web-based applications (RIAs) for people who create. From image editing to typography to music to 3D to video, we have a tool for artists of all genres."

So, any wandering souls who find this, check out Aviary. And Iwrin, if you're still looking for an intern, I am very much looking for a paid internship this summer. But I'll make contact regarding that on a less forgotten platform.
I know school is over. I just saw a cool Civic commercial I wanted to share.
Happy new year,
Ceci

Barcelona boots Europe's most powerful supercomputer
Submitted by leea469 on Fri, 12/21/2007 - 00:39.Barcelona can now officially claim to have the most powerful supercomputer in Europe, following the inaugural booting of the MareNostrum at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC).
The machine, which will be used for research in aerodynamics, biology and genetics, has a peak calculation rate of 40 Teraflops. This puts it at number four in the world, according to the Top 500, a list of the world's most powerful supercomputers.
It is also one of the smallest supercomputers, coming in at just 1,290 square feet, and 100,000 pounds. Its power consumption (630kW) is also relatively low.
The MareNostrum is built from blade servers available on the open market, and uses a Linux operating environment. IBM says the machine represents a new approach to high performance computing.
The computer is housed in the chapel on the Polytechnical University of Barcelona, which along with the Spanish and Catalan governments, makes up the consortium that runs the BSC.

SKY NEWS
By Alex Watts Updated:13:54, Friday December 14, 2007
An American man is selling his soul on the internet for £500,000 - to raise money for Christmas.
He says the winning eBay bidder will receive his spirit in a glass jar as well as a contract "relinquishing ownership".He told buyers: "I've got no money for the Christmas holidays, and all I've got left to sell is my soul.
"I'm not really using it lately - and selling it on eBay is better than letting the Devil have it."
The seller from LA added: "Keep it for yourself, or give it to someone you know who needs one. Who knows what it may be capable of?
"My hope is that with the money I can get a life and then buy it back."
The starting bid is $1 million, but surprisingly he has yet to receive an offer.
But he is still hopeful of lucre because the auction has another day to run.
The sale is reminiscent of an episode of the Simpsons, when Bart sells his soul to Milhouse.
Bart laughs at the idea until he finds automatic doors fail to open for him.
The lot is just one of a number of wacky items currently on sale on eBay - including a dollar bill with the face of Jesus on it.

This is how you tell if a painting is real or copied;
by taking an infrared photo, you can see the original sketch thats underneath the painting.
When a painting is copied, it won't have this original sketch.

1st Prize for Stephanie Sinclair
Child brides
He’s forty, she’s eleven. And they are a couple – the Afghan man Mohammed F.* and the child Ghulam H.*. “We needed the money”, Ghulam’s parents said. Faiz claims he is going to send her to school. But the women of Damarda village in Afghanistan’s Ghor province know better: “Our men don’t want educated women.” They predict that Ghulam will be married within a few weeks after her engagement in 2006, so as to bear children for Faiz.
During her stay in Afghanistan, it consistently struck American photographer Stephanie Sinclair how many young girls are married to much older men. She decided to raise awareness about this topic with her pictures. Particularly as the official minimum age for brides in Afghanistan is sixteen and it is therefore illegal to marry children.

About four miles (6.5 kilometers) of coastline near Mallipo beach, approximately 95 miles (153 kilometers) southwest of Seoul, has been affected, said Jung Se-hi, a spokesman at the Coast Guard headquarters in Incheon. The region is popular for its scenic beaches and is also the site of fish farms, a national maritime park and an important rest stop for migrating birds.
Some 2.7 million gallons of oil gushed Friday from a 146,000-ton Hong Kong-registered supertanker after a barge carrying a crane slammed into it about seven miles off Mallipo beach. The spill was the country's largest, involving twice as much oil as a spill in 1995.
SEE THE PICTURES, ITS REALLY REALLY SAD...
